At ISOLDE (CERN),an on-line test bench is dedicated to charge breeding experiments with a 14GHz Phoenix ion source,for the investigation of the 1 →n scenario at next generation ISOL-type facilities.This year,various technical developments have been undertaken for intensifying the tests of the on- line performances of the booster with a high diversity of stable and radioactive ion beams.This contribution will present an overview of the latest developments,the current challenges,and some perspectives for the future use of the Phoenix booster for physics experiments at ISOLDE.  相似文献

Superconducting magnets are widely used in ECR ion sources.The intensity and form of the magnetic field plays an important role in the way towards higher performance sources.During the development steps,the design principles and geometries had to be adapted to reach higher fields using state-of-the-art technologies and design tools.Production,assembly,and tests of these superconducting magnets are presented and a short outlook on possible future developments is given.  相似文献

As they are first optimized for their ion losses,ECRISs are always under a fundamental compromise: having high losses and strong confinement at the same time.To help ECR ion source developers in the design or improvement of existing machines,general comments are presented in a review article being soon published. In this 160 pages contribution,fundamental aspects of ECRISs are presented,with a discussion of electron temperature and confinement and ion confinement.Then,as microwaves play a key role in these machines, a chapter presents major guidelines for microwave launching and coupling to ECR plasma.Moreover,once ECR plasma is created,understanding this plasma is important in ion sourcery;and a section is dedicated to plasma diagnostics with an emphasis on the determination of electron and ion density and temperature by vacuum ultraviolet(VUV)spectroscopy.Another chapter deals with the role of magnetic confinement and presents updated scaling laws.Next chapter presents different types of ECRISs designed according to the main parameters previously described.Finally,some industrial applications of ECRISs and ECR plasmas in general are presented like ion implantation and photon lithography.Some hints taken from this review article are presented in the following article.  相似文献

Earlier we reported an ion current jump which was observed at a fixed negative biased disc potential in the 6.4GHz ECR ion source at VECC,Kolkata.In a recent experiment with neon ions,we measured the time spectra of the ion current and observed the presence of a burst frequency in the kilohertz range.This frequency shows a correlated jump with the ion current jump described above.Another interesting feature is that the observed burst frequency shows a good linear correlation with the extracted ion current.The higher the ion current,the higher is the burst frequency.This means that current per burst is a constant factor;when there are more number of bursts,the current also increases.  相似文献

One of the outstanding new developments in the field of partitioning and transmutation (P&T) concerns accelerator-driven systems (ADS) which consist of a combination of a high-power, high-energy accelerator, a spallation target for neutron production and a sub-critical reactor core. The development of the commercial critical reactors of today motivated a large effort on nuclear data up to about 20 MeV, and presently several million data points can be found in various data libraries. At higher energies, data are scarce or even non-existent. With the development of nuclear techniques based on neutrons at higher energies, nowadays there is a need also for higher-energy nuclear data. To provide alternative to this lack of data, a wide program on neutron-induced data related to ADS for P&T is running at the 20–180 MeV neutron beam facility at ‘The Svedberg Laboratory’ (TSL), Uppsala. The programme encompasses studies of elastic scattering, inelastic neutron production, i.e., (n, xn′) reactions, light-ion production, fission and production of heavy residues. Recent results are presented and future program of development is outlined.   相似文献

Geometry optimisation and metal ion affinities (MIAs) of the binding configurations of Be2+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ to L ‐proline were calculated using the hybrid Density Functional Theory (DFT‐B3LYP) and second order Møllet?Plesset perturbation theory (MP2) methods. Be2+ was found to bind preferentially in a charge transfer type arrangement through the carbonyl oxygen (? C?O) and the lone pair of the imino‐group nitrogen atom (? NH? ). On the contrary Mg2+ and Ca2+ were found to prefer binding in a bi‐dentate manner through the carboxylate group of L ‐proline (OCO) in a zwitterion form. The main types of interactions found to influence the binding preference of M2+ ions to L ‐proline were (i) charge transfer in the case of Be2+ ions and (ii) electrostatic interactions in the case of Mg2+ and Ca2+ ions. Inspection of the IR stretching of the N? H and the O? H groups of L ‐proline with M2+ ions in a chelating configuration (to both O and N atoms) indicated a considerable shift to higher frequency with decreasing MIA. On the other hand, the MIA for the zwitterion L ‐proline with M2+ tracks the reciprocal distance of the M2+? OCO bond further confirming that the nature of the bond is mainly electrostatic. Comparison with other molecules containing the carboxylic function is also included in order to gain more insight on the types of interaction of this amino acid with metal ions in general. 伴随着离子束生物技术的广泛应用, 国内许多单位开展了低能离子注入植物种子的实验研究. 其中关于低能离子注入植物种子诱变的物理机理, 集中在离子注入的深度-浓度分布上. 一些单位直接使用纵向非静态(LSS)理论和TRIM程序来计算低能离子注入植物种子的深度-浓度分布, 却发现计算结果与实验测量结果相差甚远. 所以在对植物种子靶材料进行处理和对LSS理论进行修正的基础上, 在二维近似情况下, 用蒙特卡罗方法分别模拟计算了200keV V+和20keV Ti+注入花生和棉花种子的射程分布, 得到了与实验结果较符合的曲线. 在此模型基础上, 计算了同样初始条件和理论计算模型下无法从实验上测量的N+注入植物种子的射程分布, 初步地为低能N+注入植物种子射程分布提供了一种理论计算方法.  相似文献

The self diffusion of Mn and Pd in a single grain icosahedral Al69.9Pd20.5Mn9.6 quasicrystal has been determined by low energy ion scattering (LEIS). The diffusion was determined by depositing different elements (Pd, Mn) on the surface and measuring the rate of change in surface composition as a function of temperature by LEIS. The surface composition was monitored over the temperature range of 355-575 K for Mn and 440-745 K for Pd and compared to model calculations to allow the activation energy for diffusion to be determined. Activation energies of 0.20 ± 0.01 eV for Mn and 0.64 ± 0.03 eV for Pd have then been measured for self diffusion in i-Al-Pd-Mn, respectively. No deviation from Arrhenius behavior was detected in the temperature range covered by the present experiments. From the low values of activation energy we propose that this range of diffusion is phason related, reflecting the specific nature of the icosahedral structure.  相似文献
